Copper Hourglass Ferrule

Manufactured from high-grade, malleable soft copper, designed specifically for stainless steel wire rope turnback loop terminations. The figure-8 cross-section keeps the two ropes separated and perfectly parallel within the ferrule, preventing twisting or crossover during swaging to ensure a uniform, high-strength termination.

Available in sizes from 1 mm to 16 mm, these hourglass copper ferrules fully comply with EN 13411-3. Swaging requires a hydraulic swaging machine or a dedicated hand swaging tool with matching dies, which compress the hourglass copper ferrule evenly into a solid, cold‑formed termination block. When properly swaged, the completed termination achieves a minimum of 90% of the wire rope's rated breaking strength.

Standard aluminum ferrules, when used with stainless steel in wet conditions, act as an anode and trigger rapid galvanic corrosion, resulting in rapid joint failure. Malleable copper, by contrast, is electrochemically compatible with stainless steel, ensuring lasting strength and reliability in outdoor, marine, saltwater, or highly corrosive environments.
